The Marnie Culottes are a very flattering high waisted, low crotch, wide leg design and are based on an original 1930s pair. There are two leg lengths for this pattern. Personally I like the shorter for summer with sandals and the longer length in the winter with boots. Though that is the joy of making your own. You choose what works for you.
They can be made in a variety of fabrics. For Autumn/Winter we chose British lambs wool, gabardine wool suiting and denim. For Spring/Summer we went with a chambray, needlecord and a linen/rayon mix. They also look great in a drapey viscose. The culottes are fastened at the side with an invisible zip. The waist- band closes with an internal button tab with button and a buttonhole. Finished with added optional top stitching, patch pockets and belt loops.

This voluminous style requires a medium weight woven fabric which presses well and has good drape.

Choose a matching weight interfacing to complement your fabric.
