"Maya" 1930's style Jumper/Top Pattern

Here we have the Maya Jumper. I love the look of a knitted garments but unfortunately don't have the knitting skills required. Hence the Maya was born. She has large mutton sleeve and a neck tie with a toggle. The body gently curves in at the waist and the hem sits neatly below the abdomen so that the jumper can be worn tucked in or over the top of a waistband.

This cute 1930s inspired top can be made in a variety of stretch fabrics and is meant to be mix and match. Any sewer has that stash of fabric that is too large to waist but to small for a whole garment. I try to keep all my projects as zero waste has possible. You choose how you mix the colours/patterns. That said it still looks fabulous in one colour/fabric.

Medium to heavy weight stretch fabrics are ideal for this design.
Recommended fabrics:
Ponti roma, cotton elastane jersey, rib knits, jacquard jersey, true knits. If the neck tie fabric is lightweight or very stretchy, apply lightweight stretch interfacing to one or both layers to stabilise and add body.You will need 1.6 metres for all sizes on any width of fabric (110-150cm/45-60”).
